The invention relates to the use of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin in chloramphenicol eye drops. It is characterized in that hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is added to the formulation of chloramphenicol eye drops in an amount of 10-80g/L. The present invention finds HP-β-CD (hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin) which can improve the stability of chloramphenicol eye drops through a series of experiments, which can increase the solubility of chloramphenicol by about 6 times, and effectively block the chloramphenicol hydrolysis reaction catalyzed by various ions in aqueous solution due to the inclusion of its cavity structure to chloramphenicol, thus greatly alleviating the degradation of chloramphenicol in aqueous solution, after 6 months of acceleration and 24 months of storage at room temperature, the various indicators of chloramphenicol eye drops can still meet the requirements of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The content of chloramphenicol glycol is less than 8%, and the content of p-nitrobenzaldehyde is 0, thus greatly improving the stability of chloramphenicol eye drops.
